Protecting Maine's Environment Through Political Action
Maine is special. It is a uniquely beautiful place, defined by its natural features: the vast north woods, remote ponds and lakes, rugged coast and coastal islands.
Our natural world provides our livelihood, our recreation, our sense of who we are. Maine people love and want to protect its clean air, clean water, and unspoiled wilderness.
But it is changing. The Maine we love is threatened by unchecked development eating away at our open spaces and closing off access to places we have always enjoyed; by pollution like dioxin and mercury in our water and wildlife; by air pollution that harms our health and obscures our views.
We need leadership. We need strong political leaders who know that a healthy economy depends on a healthy environment. The Maine League of Conservation Voters tracks the voting records of legislators, so their constituents know where they stand on key natural resources issues. We endorse candidates and work to elect leaders who will protect our health, open spaces, and quality of life.
